Bathrooms are such a tiny space, and adding a new coat of paint in a new color can change the vibe and the look! There are different ways to choose a color to use in your bathroom or powder room. Here are some ideas on what you can do to make sure your bathrooms new paint job looks its best:
Complimentary Colors
You may have never known, but color schemes in bathrooms done by professional painters are usually chosen based on the color wheel. Choosing colors that are complimentary to each other can help a smaller space feel look bigger and give it a less busy look and feel. If you are stuck looking for a color scheme, it’s a good idea to check out a color wheel. Purple and yellow work with each other because they are complimentary. Don’t use green and blue in the same room, because they are color wheel neighbors. The colors you choose should work well with each other.
Choosing Three Colors
If you want to use more than one color, use the rule of three. Choose from a vibrant color and neutral color, and an accent color. To do this successfully, use the 70/20/10 method of color distribution. The lightest shade should be used for 70% of a space, 20% of the second brightest color for, and 10% for the brightest color. If you want to use all neutral tones, that’s fine too. Using the 70/20/10 rule, the colors in your bathroom will look amazing! It’s all about spacing out your color choices.
Contrasting With Two Brighter Color Options
If you want an energetic and cheerful bathroom, you can always opt for using a selection of bright colors. This can work great for kids’ bathrooms and or even a guest one. Adding fun colors can look really nice when you choose white accents and other neutral colors to balance them out. Don’t be afraid of color! These paints wouldn’t be made if you couldn’t use them around your home. If you’re looking to add just a pop of color to a neutral bathroom, adding bright colored accessories can create a whole new and fun space.
Using Dark Colors
Many people choose not to use dark colors in small spaces such as bathrooms. But, browns and dark grey are colors that can add a contrast that is dramatic – but in a good way! Balancing it out with lighter color hardware and other bathroom accents can turn it into a sleek and modern room in your home. Try not to use dark colors excessively, and your bathroom should turn out amazing!
