Are you looking to add a fresh coat of paint to a room inside your home? Coating your walls in a new color can really change up a space. Although there are so many colors to choose from, some may be best to avoid using on your walls. In the end, you can choose whatever colors you want because it’s your house! You can do whatever you want with it, but here are our suggestions on what to avoid using as interior paint colors for your home:
Avoid Using Lots of Red
Many homeowners choose a deep red color to use on an accent wall or in a kitchen. It’s a fun and bold color choice, but maybe you should save it for accessories and other decorations around your home. If anything, avoid choosing red for your bedroom. Red is known as a color associated with anger, which is not something you want in a room that is supposed to be a calm space.
Avoid Using Yellows
Yellow is another color that works better as an accent color or for decorations. Just like red, yellow is a bold color. A lot of yellow at once can be overwhelming in a room. It’s hard to find a good yellow to use because most hues are bright. It can also be seen as a chaotic color for many people.
Avoid Pinks
Typically when you think of a pink room, it’s usually a children’s room. That’s fine, but using that kind of color in a living room, kitchen, or bathroom might not be the best choice. Lighter pinks can be a soothing color or add a feminine touch. Overall, though, it can be an overpowering color and create a strange-looking atmosphere.
Avoid Brown Paint
Lighter browns such as tans or taupes are great options for wall colors, but avoid using anything darker. Rooms that homeowners typically paint brown are bathrooms or living rooms, making the space feel dark and too closed off. Brown makes rooms seem smaller than they actually are. Opt for something a little lighter and brighter.
Avoiding Certain Greens
Pale greens are great, but avoid anything else involving green hues. It’s a hard color to use, but when done correctly, it can turn out well. Green is seen as tacky to some, but that typically means darker green or neon green. Use it wisely, and in a room you know it will work with!
